So I’ve invented something new. I’ve been wanting to bake something for like the last week and just haven’t had the time. Things like starting back at work, the holidays, and other people baking me treats has prevented me from doing any baking of my own! Last night I finally decided to just do it. I had a lot of butter on hand so naturally I went for the recipe that required a pound of it. These babies.
Today is the 5th annual Christmas cookie exchange at work (the 3rd year that I’ve participated). I’ll take any chance I can get to bake 5 dozen cookies! The awesome thing is that for every cookie that gets exchanged Glad will donate $1 to pediatric cancer research as part of Cookies for Kids Cancer. I decided to do my most favorite sugar cookie recipe (these happen to be the same ones pictured along with my caramel corn in this post) and add a little festive flare to them by dipping them in chocolate and sprinkling on some crushed peppermint candy canes. Sounds a little lofty for a Thursday night. But somehow I got them baked and decorated without any hiccups (I made sure we had PLENTY of butter on hand).
