Have you tried Stitch Fix?

I finally decided to give Stitch Fix a try. I’ve seen ads for it, read some blog reviews on it and had a few friends try it. And heard mostly good things. So I decided I would give it a shot. If you haven’t heard of it yet, it’s basically a clothing subscription with your own “personal stylist.” You create a style profile with your price range, your size, colors you like/dislike, etc. You can even link up your Pinterest so your stylist can get a better idea of what you like! Then you schedule your “fix.” You can schedule a one-time fix, or monthly or weekly…whatever you want! You pay a styling fee of $20 once your box is shipped and then that goes towards the purchase of any of the clothing pieces in your box {if you don’t buy anything you lose that $20}. 5 items are sent in the box along with styling cards to show you how to wear the items. If you keep all 5 items you get a 25% discount!

I scheduled my fix and was a little disappointed that it was going to take like 3 weeks to get my first one!! Boo for waiting!! When my box finally arrived it was like Christmas!! The anticipation to see what was in the box was too much! You just don’t know what you are going to get. At first glance I LOVED EVERYTHING! My first thought was #nailedit! Trying them on and seeing the prices though changed my mind on a few of the items.

What I got:

Romolo Hanna Metal Fan Bib Necklace $34. Didn’t love it. I’m more of $10 necklace person….so yeah.

Kut from the Kloth Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean $78. I really liked the look of these but they were too big. And this point I didn’t realize you could easily exchange for a different size. I wasn’t totally sold on the cut either.

THML Kahlo Knit Top $48. Loved the feel of the material on this top, loved the colors. But the cut was weird. The top fit tightly but the bottom flared out a little too much, it just wasn’t flattering.

Pixly Lyra Printed Dress. I loved the color and the pattern on this dress, but the cut just wasn’t right. It fit a little too snugly and showcased every single roll.. no thanks! Thinking about it more, this dress would have been really cute with a jean jacket {which would have hid most of the rolls ;)} But I sent it back. Oh well.

Market & Spruce Cargo vest. $68. I LOVED this vest. In fact the day before I got my box, I was hoping for something like this. It felt a little spendy, but I wanted to buy something because otherwise my $20 would have just been spent on a couple styling cards {that’s where they get you!}. So I bought it. Don’t mind the horrible pic below… I’m not good at selfies….

If I had bought everything it would have costed $199 in total with the 25% discount. Actually not too bad for some quality clothing items.

– Easy! Sending stuff back was as simple as throwing everything into a prepaid bag and dropping into a mailbox

– They nailed my style. I loved the style and look of everything in my box

– The concept is fun. It’s fun not knowing what’s going to show up at your door

– Gets you to try some clothing items you may not have otherwise

– Liked the styling cards. I’m not the best a putting together outfits

– Totally convenient if you don’t have a lot of time to get out and shop

– Took a while to get my first shipment

– Because you spend the $20 styling fee you feel like you have to buy at least one of the items

– Most of the clothes were more than I would normally spend on single items of clothing

– Only give you 3 days to decide and send back what you don’t want

Overall I had fun with it. Will I try it again? I think I will! 🙂 Next time I’ll try to get some better “on body” photos. If you want to give it a try click this link {and I get credit too ;)}

Glittered Spring Nails!

I visited my sister the other weekend and raided her nail polish again. I still haven’t added any colors to my collection…just because we’re debt free now doesn’t mean I can go crazy and spend a few dollars on nail polish or anything 😉 But when I’ve got resources like my sister I really have no reason to buy my own. She’s part of this thing called Black Box by Cult, which I guess is a nail polish club where you get a couple new colors every month. This month she got this great coral color, perfect for Spring, and a matte finish top coat. The glitter polish was not part of the box, I decided to add that one into the mix all on my own!
