Hello 2015

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and that your new year is off to a great start! We’re starting off 2015 right with a week long vacation to Cabo! We leave on Saturday and I cannot wait, I’m so in need of some sunshine!

I know I have been majorly absent on the blog and it really bums me out I wasn’t able to sit down and crank out some festive posts for you all {but you can reference a couple from last year if you want, here, here and here 😉 } I actually have a large list of projects that I have done in the past few months that I just haven’t had time to document {just doing the projects has been hard enough!}

This has been an interesting couple of months for us. Shortly after moving in to our new home Colin and I both had some car trouble {I mentioned that briefly here}. My car battery died, Colin got a flat tire and had to get them all replaced, and then a few weeks later my car battery died again indicating that it needed more work than just a battery replacement. Ugh. Car problems are the worst. Colin and I both got sick with colds that lasted FOREVER and Claire got Hand-Foot-Mouth disease over Thanksgiving so we had to miss our big family get together 🙁 So not fun. Somewhere during this time Colin was in a minor rear-end accident during work. The week after that we were all in a car accident while on our way to a holiday party. We got rear-ended by a large truck on the freeway, we were stopped and truck hit us at about 40-45 mph! Colin’s car was totaled, the ambulance, fire truck and police all came to the scene. It was pretty darn scary, we were all shaken up. We went to Urgent Care to get checked out. Claire seemed to be just fine, but it’s one of those things you just don’t know with kids. Colin and I most likely both had concussions and whip lash. We have started going to a chiropractor for treatment, but it’s going to take a while to fully recover and get back to running and exercising like we normally do. It could have been so much worse, we are counting our blessing on this one.

On top of all this Claire has been sleeping TERRIBLY. It all started when we decided it was time to transition her into a toddler bed. This transition has been so hard, THE hardest so far. It’s been a whole lot of tantrums and sleeping in our bed, which all equates to major sleep deprivation {for me…. Colin can pretty much sleep through anything}. This deserves a post all on it’s own. It is starting to get better, we’re going on four nights of Claire sleeping through the night again. I think once I stopped getting so frustrated and started cracking her door open and deciding not to care if she got out of bed or not, she actually started staying in her bed. Funny how things work like that.

Despite the ending of our year overall it really was a great one! We moved, we paid off our debt, we bought a house, moved again and completed a few house projects, I won a trip to DC and ran the Nike Women’s Half Marathon, we traveled to Seattle, San Antonio, Mccall, and Sitka! Claire has grown so much over this last year as well, she’s gone from saying a couple words to full on sentences that could last an hour…{she talks non-stop these days!}

My focus for 2015 is to seek peace. Though we’ve accomplished a lot in 2014 it has been chaotic and completely overwhelming. I want to focus on what God wants for me and my family and not worry about what needs to be done on the house, about work, about not getting blog posts up, about Claire not sleeping. Just seek God everyday, be still, and be in His word. That’s really the only way I know will bring true peace.
