DIY Chicken Wire Frame

4 Flares 4 Flares ×

Last spring we took a family vacation to the Oregon Coast and I saw a framed chicken wire board in one of the little boutique shops that I loved. The frame was somewhere around $50 which seemed a little steep…and I thought “I could totally make that myself.” And so I did! Well, OK, Colin actually did most of it, I have a slight fear of staple guns and so he just took over and I was OK with that.

currently using it as my blog inspiration board 🙂

I think it turned out pretty good! I searched Pinterest for framed chicken wire and I found all sorts of ways you can use this, as a bulletin board, a jewelry board {for some reason I really didn’t like how this looked with strands of jewelry hanging down…but this still needs some solution. I’m just in denial} or hang pictures!

DIY Chicken Wire Frame Supplies:

Old frame
Spray Paint {if needed}
Chicken wire – bought a role at Home Depot
Cutter for the wire
Staple gun & Staples

My dad donated this old frame to me.

I actually really liked how vintagey gold it looked {I’m obssessed with gold right now} but I couldn’t get it clean so I decided to just spray paint it white {I later decided to also spray paint the chicken wire, would have been easier to spray them together after the following steps had been completed}

spray paint the frame

Measure and cut out a piece of chicken wire to fit frame. Staple chicken wire to frame

At this point I spray painted the chicken wire, but that’s totally optional. And voila!
