Cold Brew Coffee Recipe

Ok, we all know how obsessed I am with coffee. And when I hear of a new coffee craze I have to try it. I just have to. So who’s heard of cold brew? It seems to be everywhere lately! Apparently it is more concentrated and less acidic than regular old hot brew and a lot better for you iced coffee lovers out there like me.

I’m in love with this right now. I like really strong coffee when you’re doing it iced otherwise it gets too diluted. Weak coffee’s just not worth it…can I get an amen? The best part of about this? It can last for up to a month in your fridge. So once you make it initially you can have ready-to-pour-over-ice coffee in the morning for a whole month! {Or less than a month, which is going to be more likely because this stuff is so delicious}.

Ingredients:

12 oz. coarsely ground rich coffee {I’ve used Starbucks Espresso Roast and Stumptown dark roast coffee and I liked both, just pick a type you normally like! I say the darker, bolder, richer, the better 🙂 I also ground it at the store so I could get it coarse ground}
1 Gallon Drinking Water {I bought a gallon jug and then reused the jug to store the cold brew}
Cheesecloth
Half & Half
Flavored Syrup {hazelnut is my personal favorite}

Directions:

  • Empty coffee into a large bowl
  • Pour in water
  • Stir and make sure all ground come in contact with the water
  • Cover and leave for 12 hours {I left it over night}
  • Place a few layers of cheesecloth over a strainer and ladle or pour coffee into a large pitcher or another bowl {I strained mine into a larger bowl and then used a funnel to pour it all back into the gallon water jug for storage}
  • Store in the fridge for up to 1 month

When you’re ready to drink it:

  • Fill up a glass half full of ice
  • Add 1 TBSP flavored syrup {again, I go with Hazelnut here}
  • Fill glass 2/3 of the way full with coffee
  • Then top it off with some half & half {or any other milk}
  • Taste and adjust portions to your liking

YUM! Comment below and tell me how you like it! And you know I’m always up for suggestions when it comes to coffee!
